Variety Telethon in Cedar Rapids Promotes Local Talent
The 18th Variety Telethon at Collins Plaza Hotel airs 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday on KCRG TV9 with Dennis McMurrin Dan Johnson and others. Nearly 500 volunteers run the event and a Sunday kids carnival runs noon to 5 p.m. VIPs aim to raise 1500 each as the charity, formed in 1937, has given over 60 million in Eastern Iowa.
