Life sentence sought for man who killed parents in Tama
Federal prosecutors seek life in prison for Gordon Lasley Jr. after he killed his parents Gordon Lasley Sr. and Kim Lasley with a 3 foot machete at their Meskwaki Settlement home on February 5 2014. The presentence report cites a guideline range up to life and argues for the top end. Lasley’s defense contends responsibility was accepted and argues mental illness. The case raises questions about premeditation and malice as the court weighs judge found facts beyond the jury verdict.
