Cedar Rapids votes on extending 1 percent sales tax for flood protection

Voters decide Tuesday whether to extend a 1 percent option sales tax for 10 years to fund local flood protection along both sides of the river. The tax would raise about $20 million annually, totaling roughly $200 million over the decade, with all funds dedicated to flood protection as described in ballot language.
