Snow impacts Cedar Rapids Maple Syrup Festival turnout
Eastern Iowa faced heavy snow that reduced attendance at the Indian Creek Nature Center Maple Syrup Festival in Cedar Rapids to about 600 from a normal 1,600. Cedar Falls canceled its festival as travelers stayed home, while Cedar Rapids kept its two day event with funds supporting staff and utilities. City crews used a new Lee Boy 3000 loader to clear snow and noted overtime as operations ran through the weekend.
