Robert Boone age 42 formerly of Cedar Rapids died suddenly Thursday morning in a San Francisco hospital. Survived by wife and a child of San Francisco and his mother Mrs. Queene Brown of Cedar Rapids with address 1117 Twelfth Avenue SE Cedar Rapids and a brother Charles Boone of Cedar Rapids. Services and burial set in San Francisco.
Word has reached of the sudden death of Jack H. Stroud former resident of 1715 Avenue NE and a 1933 Coe College graduate. Born in 1910 in South Dakota he is survived by his wife and son a sister Clara Stroud of El Centro California and two brothers Lisle of Seattle and Donald of Gann Valley. Services were held in Sioux Falls Saturday morning.
Detective Albert Wilson of the Co police recalls Iowa’s first radio motorcycle and his varied career. A Cedar Rapids native and skilled machinist he joined the department after years as a tool maker mechanic and electrician. He worked midnight patrol and later all shifts. He and his wife are parents of twins a boy and a girl.
About 150 people filled Sokol hall for a Republican potluck rally in Linn County. Gerald Bogan urged precinct workers to campaign door to door and boost turnout, criticizing Brannan and Truman policies as fraud and urging voters to unmask the administration.
American and British fleets launched a six day joint exercise in the South China Sea near the Philippines. The plan includes an air attack on carriers and escort ships by Royal Air Force ground planes and the U S 13th Air Force. He won a second Emerson prize medal for a Sesqui Centennial exhibition entrance in Washington D C and is among four Illinois seniors advancing in the Lloyd Warren Paris prize preliminary round. Final competition for Warren is in April.
Andy Hanson manager of the All Iowa fair will speak at the third annual fair managers short course in Minneapolis March 20 to 22. He will address about 40 managers on Successful Operation of a County Fair and outline year round activities at fairgrounds. Sponsored by the University of Minnesota the course targets fair managers in Minnesota and nearby states.
George Meyer aged 49 of 928 Seventh Street SW is free on a $100 bond after pleading innocent to assault and battery. He was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Friday on a Ball warrant based on a Ted Sleman complaint. Justice W. A. Ball scheduled a March 11 hearing.
Joe Staskal and Marvin Broker of Mt. Vernon pled guilty Friday to illegally spearing fish in the Cedar river near Mt. Vernon. They were fined $10 and costs each by Superior Court Judge William Matias. It marked a rare full-scale criminal hearing in superior court.

Street department spokesmen remind that property owners must shovel snow from their sidewalks. The city may clear and bill residents, but heavy snowfall prevents action. Owners are liable for damages if a slip and injury occur on uncleared sidewalks.
Holland, 25, of Norway pled guilty to drunkenness and was fined $50 plus costs Saturday in police court. Police arrested him Thursday night after reports he crossed a curb while driving into Cedar Rapids. He was found at his parked car at Fourteenth avenue and Third street SE.
In Minneapolis police were called Friday as left wing members of Local 1140 of the United Electrical Workers moved into union headquarters and confiscated the books locking the front entrance. No violence reported though two women office workers were removed. one was slightly injured per attorney Douglas Hall for the union's right wing.

A Yugoslav refugee, Nikola Martinovic, about 40, jumped 6,000 feet from a Swiss airliner over France after being denied refuge in Britain. He had told British authorities he would kill himself if sent back and was kept under guard in London before the flight. Officials said he opened a door over St Quent in and jumped.
Dean E. Selken 24 of Vinton and Dale Brassard 29 Taft were fined $100 and costs for reckless driving by Judge William Matias after pleadings of guilty. Selken's 1 am crash on First avenue and Third street SE injured passenger Edna Lostau 19, treated at St Luke's. Brassard, stopped near Melody Mill, was cited for driving without lights and no license, fined $10 and costs.
A collision involving two cars and two trucks near Jefferson City killed four young members of a Columbia boxing team and injured 11 others. The crash occurred as a pickup tried to pass a moving van at a hill crest, causing a multi-vehicle wreck on the way to a Central Missouri Marine Corps League sponsored match.

Thousands, mostly children, greet the Easter Bunny in a Cedar Rapids parade. The bunny rode in a brown convertible to Union Station at 10 a.m. as Lorene Vollmer, Marjorie Campbell, and Jane Graham rode in the lead, with bands from Coe College and the University of Iowa. The bunny heads to Killian's Bunnyland for Saturday visits through Easter.
