Official Tuesday estimates show cattle 8,000 head hogs 17,000 and sheep 9,000. Hog receipts were curtailed Monday with prices up 10 to 15 cents from Friday, topping at 5.75 dollars. open market receipts totaled 13,000 head versus 18,000 expected. Packers received 8,000 direct.
Steers and yearlings sold to $9.85. prime quoted above $11.50. Hogs saw receipts 5,500 with good and choice weights from 170 to 360 lb and top shipper price around 5.35. Sheep receipts 4,500 with fat lamb action muted. good fed wooled skins near 10.00 and slaughter ewes steady around 4.25 to 4.75.
Hog receipts 3 300 to 4 600. prices mostly 5.25 to 5.50 for 180 240 Ibs. 270 300 Ibs around 5.00 5.20. sows 4.15 4.25. Cattle totals 4 700 calves 250. fed steers and yearlings steady to strong. heifers up 0 15. cows strong. bulls and vealers steady. stocker steers 7.75 9.40. fat lambs 9.75 10.25 or higher. feeding lambs limited. slaughter ewes higher.
Des Moines AP reports hog receipts at 41 700 for 48 hours with prices higher in many weight ranges. Good and choice 160-180 lbs fetch 4.55 to 5.25. 180-220 lbs 5.00 to 5.45. 240-270 lbs 4.65 to 5.05. 300-330 lbs around 4.35 to 4.80.
Chicago AP reports Austin Minnesota hog buyers posted steady to mixed quotes for barrows gilts and sows across weight ranges from 140 pounds through 500 pounds. Prices appeared as bursts of four to five dollars variations by weight, with sows mostly above three dollars per pound in the lighter bands and lower in the heaviest classes.
Livestock markets show larger salable receipts: hogs 21 000, cattle 11 000, and fat lambs 6 000. Hogs trade higher with top around 5.75, cows and sows steady to firm, cattle mostly 8.25 to 12.25 with some loads 12.25 and higher, yearlings and heifers up, stockers firm, lambs 10.50 to 10.66 with gains from last week.
Livestock receipts rise with cattle and hogs uneven. Slaughter steers 7.75 to 9.25, cows 6.00 to 6.50, bulls 6.00 to 6.50, calves 9.00 to 10.00. Hogs active 5.00 to 5.40, sows 4.25, pigs 3.75 to 4.25. Sheep 8.00 to 10.00 for feeding lambs. Montana and Dakota lots prominent.
U S Department of Agriculture notes cattle salable receipts at 3 300 calves 200 stocker steers and yearlings active strong to 25 cents fat stock steady to 15 cents stockers and feeders strong bulk fed trades ongoing in Sioux City market.

New York AP report on eggs butter and cheese markets shows eggs weak with mixed colors and varied casing prices for different quality grades. Butter receipts high and firmer with creamery and extra grade prices rising. cheese receipts high with state and whole milk flats price ranges and fresh cheese at 15 to 16 cents.

In New York on Monday Steels and aircraft shares led mixed action while most issues held in narrow ranges. About 450000 shares changed hands as Seaboard Air Line traded in 10000 share blocks and rose 1 percent. Major gainers included U S Steel Bethlehem Douglas Aircraft Boeing Glenn Martin and American Telephone with others like Kennecott Phelps Dodge and Standard Oil of New Jersey also advancing.

Wheat slipped below earlier closing levels in the final minutes at Chicago, finishing down 4 1/2 cents with May at 1.00 14 3/4. Corn rose about 8 1/4 cents, May 56 1/4 to 14. Oats were little changed, rye eased, and soybeans gained over 2 cents. Trade was quiet with light offerings and steady cash sales. Reports of liberal boat charters pointed to a healthy export trade as lake navigation opens.
AP dispatch from Minneapolis reports wheat receipts Monday at 486 cars, down from last year. Cash bids show No 1 heavy dark northern about 1.01 to 1.03, Montana dark and hard wheats around 1.00, durum around 0.89 to 0.93, and red durum about 0.88. Corn No 3 yellow about 0.52 to 0.54, oats No 3 white 0.387 to 0.39, barley 0.58.
AP market notes list Chicago cash prices for wheat corn oats soybeans and barley with various grades and ranges. Include timothy seed sweet clover red clover red top alsike alfalfa per 100 pounds and other feed items with tierces loose and bellies pricing.
Wisconsin cheese terms list for March 4 to March 9 shows quotes from the Wisconsin Cheese Exchange with twins at 13 2 for a unit, daisies at 14 cents, brick at 12 2, cheddars at 13 42 cents. Farmers call board lists daisies at 11 4, horns at 14, cheddars at 13 1/2 cents.
Domestic wools in the Boston market were steady Monday from last week. Mills showed no interest in purchases while holders offered spot country packed mixed three-eighths and one-quarter blood bright fleece wools at 36 38 cents in grease with no buyer interest.
New York bond market edges down slightly in moderate trading as most corporate issues stay unchanged. U S government securities end the day fairly steady with several issues showing small gains and losses amid mixed foreign dollar loans activity.
The American Society for the Control of Cancer declared the freezing treatment for cancer remains experimental. Doctors Temple Fay and Lawrence Smith of Philadelphia initiated the method and say pain relief can be long lasting, while officials note pain often returns after treatment.
Harry F. Sundberg of the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce warned that development of Mississippi and Missouri river waterways could spur freight by water on both sides of Iowa. He said interior city industries rely on favorable tariffs and transit privileges and noted Cedar Rapids has more industries than Des Moines while the local traffic bureau works to maintain growth.

Edward W Klouda 52 of six miles northeast of Solon died by his own hand Sunday morning. Ill health listed as cause. Survived by wife Stella a daughter Mrs Louis Kulish Jr a son Alvin mother Mrs Anna Klouda two sisters and four brothers. Funeral at St Peter and Paul church near Solon 9:30 a m Wednesday. Sylvia Ellen Norton 66 died at her son Emmett Norton’s home in Des Moines at 12 50 p m Sunday after a heart attack. She resided in Stuart Iowa and is survived by her husband David S Norton a grandson Nathan Allen Norton Cedar Rapids and sister Mrs E W Hallock West Des Moines. Funeral services will be in Stuart Tuesday afternoon with visitation at Moon chapel Monday evening.
Funeral services for Wesley J. Netolicky 67 who died at his home near Western will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Brush chapel conducted by Rev Ludvik Burian. Burial will follow in Shueyville cemetery with the Shueyville camp M W A in charge at the grave. Surviving are his wife Mary a daughter Mrs Wesley Cerveny Fairfax two sons Milroy at home and Dr Stephen Netolicky of Salt Lake City Utah two sisters Mrs Mary Svoboda Swisher and Mrs Julia Novotny near Solon four brothers John W and Frank near Western Anton Mount Vernon and Charles West Branch. He had long operated a threshing outfit and a saw mill.
Oscar G. Swenson, 71, salesman, died Sunday at 11 30 p m at his Cedar Rapids home 1508 Fifth Street Southwest after a brief illness. He was born March 20 1880 in Sweden and came to the United States as an infant. He married Prudence B Stuart in March 1908 in Sycamore NL. Survived by wife two daughters Mrs Eleanor Stratton and Jean Swenson both of Cedar Rapids two grandsons Larry Richard Stratton Ronald Lee Stratton also a brother John S Swenson of Dallas Texas Two children Stuart and Isabel preceded him in death. Walter H. Giem 53 died at 519 Second Street SW Cedar Rapids at 2 30 a m Sunday after a long illness. Born May 24 1886 in Plainview Minnesota he lived in Cedar Rapids 20 years. Survived by wife Maude V son Lewis Cedar Rapids daughter Margaret Giem Chicago grandson David Giem Cedar Rapids two brothers Arthur and Edward Giem Minnesota four sisters Mrs eo Presher Elinor Giem Mrs Ralph Simon all Minnesota and Mrs Adeline Oleson South Dakota. Hearing on the twenty fifth and final report of D W Bates as receiver in the Coggon State bank receivership was set for March 14 at 9 am by Judge C J Haas. The report shows a final depositors dividend of 11.846 percent totaling 14871 77 dollars and a cumulative 51.846 percent dividend to date. General creditors receive 19.43 percent or 29 94 dollars of 154 10 total claims. The report seeks authority for final payments and dissolution of the bank corporation. Receivership opened January 5, 1932.
The will of 47 year old Cedar Rapids dentist Dr. O. W. Esslinger was probated. He died Feb 17 near San Antonio, Texas, by self inflicted gunshot. Widow E. Margaret Esslinger receives all home and auto property and income from an estate trust of 200 dollars monthly. The parents, J. G. and Mae E. Esslinger, receive 100 dollars monthly each from net trust income, with survivor provisions. Merchants National Bank of Cedar Rapids acts as executor and trustee.
Mrs. Florence Pierce of Manchester pleaded guilty to daytime larceny from a Montgomery Ward store after taking two shirts and a sweater. Judge J E Heiserman gave a six month jail term suspended during good behavior if she pays a $50 fine and costs within thirty days, with liberty on bond during the period. Police made the arrest.
Thomas E. DeVaul 40 of 941 Fourteenth avenue SE pled not guilty before Judge J. E. Heiserman to an assault with intent to inflict great bodily injury. He was jailed after failing to post $500 bond following a Saturday incident at the Rude Auto Co shop where he formerly worked. He is alleged to have struck foreman Leo Shirk with large shears after an argument.
Linn county's grand jury convened Monday forenoon as the March term of the Linn district court opened with Judge J. E. Heiserman presiding. The panel, led by foreman M. J. McCalley, includes Albert Ross Don Cameron and H. G. Ellison and is expected to complete work by Thursday.

Jessie Vanourny files for divorce from Milo Vanourny on cruel and inhuman grounds. A $250 attachment and injunction on property interference were granted by Judge C J Haas. The couple married July 18 1927 and alimony and support are requested. Grace Machacek of Cedar Rapids seeks a divorce from Stanley Machacek on cruel grounds. they wed in Cedar Rapids August 14 1934.
The Cincinnati Reds began their second week of training in Tampa with first fielding drills. Lew Riggs arrived late due to flu, completing the squad. Four Cuban Rockies, invited for trials, will be flown from Havana this week instead of arriving by gunboat as planned.
