Services 10 am Monday at St Matthew Church with burial at Mt Calvary cemetery. Rosary Sunday at Murdoch Marion chapel after 11 am.
Sharon Lee Edwards 29 a Waterloo Cedar Rapids area resident died Friday after a short illness. She was born October 16 1942 in Cedar Rapids and was a member of Bethel AME church. Survivors include her mother Edith Wilson and grandmother Mrs Louis Bragg of Cedar Rapids. Services are pending at Turner Chapel East.
C E Hodgin known as Doc Hodgin aged 77 died March 1 in Richland Center Wisconsin He worked for Witwer Grocer Co and Iowa Manufacturing Co before moving to Wisconsin in 1954 He is survived by wife Celia and daughter Mrs Clair Nietert of Madison Services are set for Saturday at 3 p m at Pratt funeral home Richland Center.
Margaret J. Duster 47 of 355 Garden Drive SE died Thursday while vacationing with her parents in Fort Pierce Florida. Services are tentatively set for 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church Stewart Funeral Home is in charge.
Memorial services held for Elizabeth S Ytsen at Turner Chapel West at 1 30 p m Friday officiated by Rev Earl W Osnes. Burial followed at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Clarence E Ryan mourned at Dayton Methodist Church at 11 a m Saturday with burial in Dayton Cemetery.
The court affirmed New York's anti subversion statute aimed at keeping perceived leftists from teaching in public schools. The ruling centers on the Feinberg law long used to bar subversive individuals from the state’s educational system.
San Francisco UPI reports Black Panther chief of staff David Hilliard was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts of making false statements in a January 1971 court filing to obtain government funds for his defense against a charge alleging he threatened President Nixon. He is serving a state prison sentence for assaulting a police officer.
Rose M. McMurray a 20 year old from 1103 Forty third street SE faced a charge of uttering a forged instrument after a 35 dollar check to Michael Couser dated January 17. Steven W. Johnson 23 of 110 Sixteenth street NE was charged with false uttering of a check and held in Linn county jail regarding a 22 dollar Sears Roebuck check dated February 16. A separate 10 years ago note recalls a fire at the Lacey hotel in Oskaloosa with 250000 dollars in losses.
Senator Kennedy questioned Kleindienst about a Sept letter from Reuben Robertson to inquire who arranged a settlement and any links to ITT's reported GOP convention support. McLaren stated the anti trust division handled the settlement and denied contact with Rep Wilson, while Kleindienst could not recall the letter or a discussion with McLaren. Kennedy pressed for how McLaren answered Robertson without Kleindienst's input.
Washington AP reports George Lincoln, director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, says unexpected heavy demand for low price natural gas will raise prices, trigger rationing and more imports. He told the Senate interior committee that cheap gas caused a run on supplies and may not have happened if priced like oil and coal.
