Man Held for Attempt To Strangle His Wife

Baby Fatally Burned By Pan Of Hot Water

Richard Peck aged 14 months, son of Mr and Mrs Archie Peck, died in hospital from burns after tipping a pan of hot water. He suffered third degree scalds on about a quarter of his body. Mrs Peck used the pan as a makeshift steamer to treat the boy and his sister for influenza on Friday night.

Son’s Drive Saves Mother From Air Crash Near Sioux City

Mrs. Walter I. Tenney of New York City avoided a fatal air crash when her son Walter I. Jr. chose to drive through bad weather to Missouri. The plane crashed Friday near Sioux City killing 15 and injuring 10. Walter Jr. is a first lieutenant at St. Thomas Military Academy in Minneapolis and had switched plans to travel by train after deciding to drive friends to Missouri. Mrs. Tenney learned of the change and gave up her seat, later learning her son had taken the trip with his friends.

The Office of Price Stabilization notified Des Moines dairies Friday of milk price increases to 19.5 cents per quart for pasteurized and homogenized milk while cream prices stay the same. Producer prices rose to 4.82 dollars per hundredweight for grade A bottled milk, up 65 cents from February.

Buena Vista Students Hurt in 7 Vehicle Crash

Five Buena Vista college students were injured in a seven vehicle crash on highway 71 near Sioux Rapids during a sleet and snowstorm. Seriously hurt were Grace Barnard Gillette Grove Ir and Jo Ann Buse Spencer. Others injured were George Gerrets Spencer Peggy Hariig Spencer and Robert Engle Eneta.
