Refugee resettlements cut in Cedar Rapids after Trump order
The Catherine McAuley Center reduces planned refugee placements from 75 people to 38 this year after President Trump’s January order halting refugee admits and lowering the annual cap. Most arrivals are from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burma, slated for near Iowa City with hopes to settle by October. Volunteers have already surpassed expected help.
