SUI Students Injured in Colo Collision
Four men, three students from the University of Iowa, were in satisfactory condition after a Sunday night two car crash near Colo Iowa. Infants death in accidental gun discharge near New Palestine

Walker pleads guilty after jury selected in drunken driving case
Lawrence B. Walker age 54 of 626 Fifth Ave SE pled guilty Monday morning after a jury was selected for his trial on a second offense drunk driving charge. Judge Floyd Philbrick discharged the jury and fined Walker 500 dollars. Walker was arrested Jan 10 by police. his prior Linn County conviction dates to 1955. Two other men also faced drunken driving charges. Alfred H. Monroe 48 Neenah Wis pled innocent. Donald J. Kramer 30 Richmond Rd NE was granted until Wednesday to plead. Both were arrested in Cedar Rapids Saturday. The will of Martin Geiss died Feb 18 leaves most of the estate to brother-in-law George F. Weitz who was named executor.

Coralville man sentenced for rape crime in county case
A 39 year old Coralville man, Roland N Peters, received 5 to 10 years in the state penitentiary after pleading guilty to a rape charge. He had earlier withdrawn an innocent plea and was accused of assaulting a 43 year old woman in his car on Oct 8 in an isolated county road. Peters also faces a Polk county criminal charge and was shot in the leg by a Des Moines officer Jan 7 while attempting to break into a welding supply firm. He was on a Cedar Rapids police mission and had claimed to help recover $8000 from a Newman's safe robbery in December. Another defendant, Raymond M Cullen, 22, Cedar Rapids, faces pleading time until Thursday on breaking and entering charges. He is accused of taking nearly $220 in tavern break ins, including cash and two wristwatches from the First Street tavern on Feb 13.

Two Youths Rescued From Cliff Peril Near Vancouver
Charles Haas 17 and Darrell Jones 18 of Vancouver were rescued after six hours on a sheer 325 foot cliff above the Lewis River canyon. Rescue parties from Oregon aided by Mountain Safety and Rescue Council climbers lowered one by one to retrieve them.
