Two men were arrested on intoxication and resisting charges after weekend incidents. Henry Edgar Parrish, 24, of 212 Eighth Avenue SW, was detained at 3:22 a.m. Sunday at the Mercy detox center and remained in Linn County jail Monday on a $250 bond after refusing to cooperate. Edward Jurevitz, 54, of 1435 Wilson Avenue SW, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Sunday at May City Lanes when police were called to remove him.
Police logged two thefts totaling 1 220 dollars. Stephen R. Kearns reported 1 100 dollars in stolen items from his truck including a 150 dollar mechanic's chest and a 400 dollar tool set. Mike Mally reported 70 dollar saw 20 dollar drill and 30 dollar battery charger stolen from a storage room.
Correction Rebecca Jones Harapet 25 of 21 Thirty sixth avenue SW was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily injury after an attack on another woman involving a glass bottle not a knife as noted in a Friday Gazette headline.
Iowa Governor Robert Ray says he does not support decriminalizing marijuana but could back reducing penalties for simple possession. He notes possession is an indictable misdemeanor now and could be dropped to a simple misdemeanor with jail up to 30 days and fines up to 100 dollars. Ray argues easing penalties would keep youth out of crime while questioning marijuana’s social value.
Raymond L Adams livestock buyer for 50 years dies at home in Monticello born December 18 1894 married 1919. In Linn County magistrate court Ricky Sheriff of 224 Twenty seventh Street NW faced 15 charges filed October 27. Thirteen were dismissed after pleading innocent to four stop sign disobeying counts, two traffic signal violations, two fixture strikes, two lacking vehicle control, one speeding, and one disobeying an official traffic control device. Sheriff pled guilty to speeding and reckless driving, receiving 30 day jail terms on each, suspended. He paid about 10.5 dollars in court costs per charge vẫn.

Claude Hixenbaugh 69 was arrested at 2 23 a m near Eighth avenue and Fifteenth street SW. He posted 500 bond and was released.
A citizen band radio valued at 430 dollars was reported stolen from a car owned by Dar old Landouyt in rural Ely parked there Saturday night. Robert Hoke of 2701 Third Avenue Marion notified Linn County Sheriff of a rural Mt Vernon building break in discovered within two to three weeks with a furnace register and porcelain insulators from lightning rods reported stolen and other items damaged.
