Hand control driver education helps Linn-Mar teen
Nancy Thomas, a Linn-Mar high school student paralyzed by polio, begins driver education using hand controls funded by the Easter Seal Society. The program, praised by director Miss Frances Halbeisen, aims to prove handicapped drivers can be as capable as others with proper training. Nancy’s instructor Aaron Thompson welcomes the effort as his first wheelchair student, and plans to continue weekly sessions until licensing. Cub Scout Pack 158 and Pack 89 held award banquets at local schools with multiple honorees listed.
