Ruth Swisher of Burlington pays $6000 to retrieve the 121 E College St property from the federal government along with bar furniture and assets. She estimates $45000 in lost rent and taxes since seizure and says 18 potential operators are interested in reopening a restaurant or bar in the former College Street Club site.
An Atalissa man, Lance Adam Wieskamp, 21, pleaded innocent in Johnson County District Court to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene after a May 18 crash that killed Erika M. Welcher, 16. A jury trial is set for Sept. 24. Wieskamp remains jailed on a $31,000 bond.
