Cedar Rapids sewer plant bid comes in under estimate
Zimpro Inc of Rothschild Wisconsin bid 11 357 025 to supply and install process equipment for the solids handling system of the Cedar Rapids sewage treatment plant, more than 1 million under the 12 360 000 engineer estimate. The bid was referred for evaluation while other bids for a left turn storage lane on Edgewood road NE at Glass road were higher than estimates. A spectator questioned funding for police versus these projects as Mayor Canney explained sources differ and grants fund the plant. On this date in 1971 three Soviet cosmonauts died after spaceflight.
