Walker and Smulekoff won their semi finals in Cedar Rapids first annual women’s golf tournament. They will play 18 holes for the championship Saturday at Elmcrest starting 9 a.m. Mrs. Walker set a competitive course record 78 and nearly aced the 165 yard third hole. A luncheon and winner photos follow at Elmcrest.
Jim Burke delivered a clutch ninth inning single to drive in the winning run as Barney's Paint nosed out Guaranty Bank 7 6 in Beck league baseball. Norvil Lee had two hits and drove in the Waltonians' winning run in a 3 2 victory over the Elks. Craemer's protested a 2 1 defeat to Borden's while Hess notched the lone hit against two Knight of Columbus pitchers in a 4 2 Kiwanis win.
