Iowa lawmakers repeal protections for transgender Iowans
Iowa Republicans pass and Gov Reynolds signs a law removing gender identity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. The measure defines sex as male or female at birth, blocks birth certificate changes after transition, and bans teaching gender theory from kindergarten to sixth grade. It also broadens restroom and locker room distinctions and expands distracted driving and taxes toward new penalties and policies in schools and workplaces.
