The FBI logged over 7 600 hate motivated incidents in 1993 including intimidation vandalism and assaults. Sixty two percent involved bias by religion 18 percent by religious bias and 12 percent for sexual orientation bias mainly against homosexuals. Crimes against people made up 70 percent with intimidation at 35 percent and property destruction at 25 percent.

U S Coast Guard crews intercepted at least 22 refugee boats off Haiti on Tuesday as hundreds more Haitians reached crowded refugee facilities.
