The AP report shows Dow Jones indices finishing off session lows with the industrials and transports both down. Major averages including the S&P 500 slipped as market breadth weakened and utilities held firm late trading.
New York over the counter indexes reveal a composite at 325.96 with declines across most sectors. Industrials drop 13.19, financials 3.50, utilities 5.82, banks and transport also fall. Advanced issues 234, declined 1419, unchanged 1488, total issues 3541 with 80670900 shares traded.
Trading on the New York Stock Exchange closed with a broad decline as the NYSE indexes fell across Industrials Transport Utilities and Finance. The day saw volume of about 82.7 million shares led by Sony Amer Tel Amoco and IBM while Amex and NASD listings showed mixed results for the session.
