Egg production in 1977 could lift wholesale egg prices
USDA forecasts in a late June 1977 report that if total egg production in the first half of 1977 matches 1976 levels, wholesale prices may average about 4 cents per dozen higher than the current 60 cents. The shift reflects stronger demand from a revived economy and more eggs used for breaking and hatching.
