Grassley will seek re election to Iowa House not run for governor
Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley 42 from New Hartford said on Friday he will seek re election to the House District 57 in 2026, foregoing a bid for governor after Gov Reynolds announced she would not seek reelection. Grassley grandson of Sen Chuck Grassley has led the Republican majority to a 67 seat supermajority and backed tax cuts school funding limits and DEI rollbacks while balancing farming and family commitments. Reynolds vacancy opens a wide race with Republicans and Democrats pursuing early campaigns and exploratory efforts from Eddie Andrews Brad Sherman Randy Feenstra and others.
