Forecasts Downgraded Ahead of Wapsipinicon Crest
Officials along the Wapsi expressed relief as updated forecasts trimmed crest projections to about 22 feet from 27. Anamosa's fire chief noted the dike and sandbag efforts kept water levels low, with no major residential damage reported and pumps sent to Olin and Oxford Junction. Flood warnings remained in effect for nearby Independence as crews moved sandbags and monitored rivers.
