Prosecution Plays Tape From Idaho Home In Neglect Case
In Sandpoint Idaho prosecutors showed a videotape of the McGuckin home where six children aged 8 to 16 held off authorities for five days after their mother JoAnn McGuckin was arrested. The interior was described as filthy with garbage broken furniture dog feces spoiled food maggots and mice. The hearing examined whether criminal charges should be filed while the family described years of poverty and unsanitary living conditions including no running water since 1997 and meals skipped for long periods. The father Michael McGuckin died in May from multiple sclerosis.
