Herrick retires as Iowa highway patrol chief after 28 years
After 28 years with the Iowa highway patrol David Herrick relinquished command on his last day in Des Moines. The soft spoken veteran urged more patrolmen to meet rising highway traffic and urged drivers to slow down to cut deaths. He planned to clean out his desk and go home saying he would do the job again if given the chance. He turns 59 in September and hopes to stay involved in government affairs.
