Hawaiian Japanese printing firms lose share to Nippon imports
Soga stated that local Japanese printers in Honolulu lost over 15 percent of their business to Japanese printing firms last year. He said more than 50000 dollars of local work was sent to Nippon due to wage and material cost differences, citing a sample where Japanese manufactured material costs ten dollars in Hawaii and one dollar in Japan. He urged the NRA administrator to address the situation before any wage increases under the Hawaii graphic arts code are considered.
