Man From Columbus Gets Indeterminate Ten Year Term
Edward Mitchell aged 32 of Columbus Ohio received an indeterminate ten year sentence at Fort Madison state penitentiary after pleading guilty to breaking and entering. Judge H C Ring deferred sentencing to review Mitchells long criminal record compiled from federal and state arrests including Missouri and Kansas City charges. Mitchell was nabbed at 4:50 a m June 18 at the Polly Ann inn with petty theft items after breaking in through a screened door.

Claire Oliphant a 25 year old Walker resident was sentenced to six months in county jail by Judge H C Ring for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. He may be released after three months for good behavior. Oliphant took Carpenter’s automobile from a Walker garage on June 21 and surrendered to Waterloo police the next day with Deputy Sheriff Jay Davis. County Attorney G K Thompson filed the true information.
