Vaccination key as Iowa hospitals report fewer COVID cases
Dr Tony Myers of Mercy Medical Center notes continued concern over new variants. UI Hospitals and Clinics reports over 200 COVID patients since April with about 85 percent unvaccinated, while St. Luke's Cedar Rapids shows decline in monthly hospitalizations. By mid year over 51 percent Linn County residents are fully vaccinated, with herd immunity targets at risk and Delta variant spreading in unvaccinated groups. Officials urge vaccination and continue outreach including Johnson & Johnson doses at the Linn County Fair.
