Racial unrest hits Richmond and Durham in shocks
In Richmond California more than 100 police cleared streets after a night of sniping arson and fighting. About 60 arrests were recorded as reinforced forces from nearby cities, including 50 San Francisco officers with dogs, battled disturbances tied to a shooting of a Negro teen. In Durham North Carolina tear gas dispersed a crowd after a housing authority meeting turned into a hostile scene with threats and rock and bottle throwing. Minor damage and no arrests reported.
