Iowa approves Summit CO2 pipeline across state lines
Iowa regulators approve Summit Carbon Solutions CO2 capture pipeline in 29 counties linking 57 ethanol plants to an underground North Dakota reservoir. The board found public convenience and necessity and granted eminent domain rights but noted 859 parcels lack voluntary easements and cited a possible appeal to court. Summit plans a South Dakota permit filing in early July.

North Liberty Pantry to build $4 million facility
The North Liberty Community Pantry plans a 10,500 square foot building at 350 W Penn St in an empty lot to meet rising Johnson County demand. Executive Director Ryan Bobst says the project covers land purchase, construction, and equipment totaling about $4 million. Construction should start this summer with no completion date set. The pantry distributed 588,000 pounds of food last year, more than double 2021 figures.
