Clayton County backs resort project after renewed pact
Clayton County supervisors signed an agreement with River Bluffs Resort LLC and developer James Daughtry to proceed with a golf course hotel water park and housing project near McGregor. Daughtry will sign, grading may start this summer, and holes one through four are planned for opening next year with nine more by 2005. The deal uses a $20 million tax increment financing bond and a $3.5 million Vision Iowa grant previously drawn.

Missouri man killed in motorcycle crash near Belle Plaine
A Missouri man, 41-year-old David W. Frizzell of Chillicothe, died about 11:40 a.m. when his motorcycle ran a stop sign at Highway 21 and 212, lost control, and hit the east ditch six miles south of Belle Plaine, according to the Iowa County Sheriff's Department.
