The Cooper cryogenic brain operation uses a tiny insulated cannula to freeze targeted thalamus tissue. Temperature at the tip is controlled by a thermocouple as X rays guide insertion through a skull hole. Reversible, safe and rapid, it aims to reduce tremor with less hospital time.
