Soens Named Bishop of Sioux City Diocese
Pope John Paul II named Monsignor Lawrence D. Soens the new bishop of the Sioux City Diocese. The 56 year old Davenport native was ordained May 6 1950 and has led St. Mary parish and schools in Clinton. He becomes the fifth Davenport priest elevated to a bishop in 101 years.
