Linn County District Court amends a prior order making Douglas Stover reimburse Mona Gross for all items stolen from her home. Stover pleaded guilty to third degree theft. police recovered silverware worth over $500 in his possession. The ruling limits liability to items he actually possessed and adds a $65 repair cost for a silver cake server.
Firefighters investigated a Wednesday night blaze at an old stock trailer near North Towne Apartments. Lt. Terry Martinson said the metal roof collapsed and debris burned inside while authorities questioned ownership and possible mobile office use. Police labeled the fire arson as investigators worked to identify the perpetrator.
A 14 year old Davenport boy Jeffrey Scott Watson died after a motorcycle crash on a dirt bike between railroad tracks. He suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
