Stony Point school era revived by Cedar Rapids fourth graders
Forty two fourth graders from Fillmore school visited the 1880s Stony Point one room school west of Cedar Rapids. They recalled old days as Mrs Berchenbriter and Mrs Eikanger led readings, songs and a spelling bee while the site, owned by Rockwood Farms, is preserved as a campaign HQ for Richard Rawson in District 27. The event, the first major activity since the school closed in 1959, followed a local note about Paul Schloss and Connie Stevens at Hollywood’s Walk of Fame ceremony.
