Extended forecast calls for warm and humid conditions with a chance of thunderstorms from Friday through Sunday. Highs in the mid 80s to around 90. Lows near 70. David Alan Swenson, 18, of 1925 C avenue NE, was charged with breaking and entering after police say he was found in Hilda Danow sky s house at 3 p.m. Swenson fled but was arrested at his home. He remained in county jail Wednesday in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

Safety Commissioner James Steinbeck on Wednesday said objections to a proposed uniform fire code can be resolved. A lone objection from Cedar Rapids Tent and Awning Co. cited tent and air supported structure inspections and a raise in tent permits from 2 to 15 dollars.
Cedar Rapids was picked as the site for the 1976 state convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Auxiliary. At Sioux City last weekend Cedar Rapids Aerie won class C ritual and drill, the auxiliary captured field drill, and plus multiple charity awards. Cedar Rapids members elected Joe Hayden as state conductor Don Durland honorary vice president Velma Kacer state secretary and Gladys Linte e trustee.
AMES AP Traffic fatalities rise sharply on Iowa state and interstate highways through June 12 with 141 deaths, up 21 from a year ago. In contrast 45 fatalities occurred within incorporated cities and towns, 28 fewer than last year. Secondary roads totaled 65 deaths, unchanged from the prior year. Transportation Director Victor Preisser cites puzzling trends and discounts faster driving or more travel as causes.
Dave Schmitt Construction Co. was the low bidder on paving and storm sewers in the Northwood drive and Forty-second street NE area. The bid totaled $20,077.15, about 21 percent below the $25,307.68 estimate. Other bids were Bowler Construction Co. $24,704, Concrete Maintenance Corp. $24,940.75, Ray Bertelli $24,941.50, Bjornsen Investment Corp. $25,421.78.

The council advises the state department of public instruction and adult educators across Iowa on developing adult education services.
Uganda Radio reported in Nairobi that two British warships loaded with troops arrived at Mombasa to invade Uganda over the planned execution of Dennis Hills. A British spokesman denied troops aboard. Kenyan Vice-president Moi dismissed the charges as false.
San Francisco reported the highest heroin death rate in the United States for 1974, with 72 direct overdoses and 50 related deaths, totaling a per capita rate near 1. Heroin fatalities in New York, Detroit, and Chicago were higher in raw counts but lower per 100,000. In 1972 SF had 64 deaths, dropping to 39 in 1973.
In Thousand Oaks California a cashier's check cat named C C was locked in a bank vault over the weekend. The cat's yowling set off the bank burglary alarm, prompting staff to evacuate and later feed and release the creature. Bank officials note the alarm could not distinguish a cat from a burglar.
Golda Meir former Israeli prime minister is back home after hospitalization for leg ailment. An aide said she completed physiotherapy and returned to her Jerusalem residence.
