Viola site gains Rural Historic Landscape District label

The Matsell Area Preservation and Protection group secured Rural Historic Landscape District status on the National Register for land near Viola adjacent to Grant Wood's Fall Plowing. The listing, May 30, may influence land use decisions including a 565 acre proposed landfill near Viola and County Home Road north of Marion. Elisabeth Foster Hill noted the process delays and added the designation adds prestige, potentially altering integrity concerns.
