Enid Young 69 of Dysart, grew up in wartime England and now refurbishes toys for needy kids. She collects dolls, stuffed animals, books and fabric, sending them with a LOVEY tag to centers in Cedar Rapids, Kentucky and Chicago, funding and organizing the effort largely from her own money and community donations. She started after a neighbor asked for help delivering clothes and toys to underprivileged children and has since repaired thousands of items over decades.
