Cigarette Start Blazes Destroys Cedar Rapids Apt Building

A discarded cigarette tossed onto a third floor deck started a fast moving fire at 411 Burdette Dr SW Cedar Rapids damaging a 23 unit building. Fire officials say high south winds and wood siding fueled the blaze. About 32 people were left homeless with damage estimated around $1 million.
