Two men Edward Kautz and David Preace of Detroit were captured near Monticello after Marshal Roy Pearson fired two shots and blocked a highway. They allegedly stole three slot machines from a Worthington restaurant and were brought to Dubuque for charges. Sheriff Henry Eichorn said the men were unarmed and authorities recovered about $100.

Begin Pouring Cement On Road 74 At Tipton
Ross Construction of Des Moines began pouring concrete on primary 74 from Tipton toward the east. About 40,050 lineal feet of concrete will be laid, leaving a 0.742 mile gap to the Scott county line. The pavement will be 30 feet wide in town and 20 feet in rural areas. Grading and bridge work have continued since last fall with two shifts of 6 ½ hours and about 175 workers, pouring roughly a quarter mile daily.

289 Cases Of Eggs Scrambled In Crash
