WWII Navy Preflight School Reunion Draws 100 Veterans
The 50th year reunion for the Navy Preflight School at Iowa City drew about 100 former cadets and staff who served 1942 to 1946. Speakers recalled Capt. David C. Hanrahan, the founding skipper, and Jerry Holland’s 36 years in the Navy. The gathering honored memories at the Bluejackets Club near the Englert Theatre with tales of sea duty, cartoons, and amphibious training.
