Iowa gas prices fall 7.9 percent in weeks after refinery issues
The Gazette reports Iowa’s average gas price dropped 7.9 percent from mid May to June 18 as refineries stabilized. State energy analyst Brian Crowe notes Iowa’s central location usually keeps prices below the national average but May refiners’ problems caused higher costs. Oil prices, heating fuels, natural gas, propane, and heating oil also eased slightly. Crowe warns prices may remain high or rise again if the supply stream falters.
