Fire boss says Mount Lemmon blaze doomed Summerhaven
Fire commander Larry Humphrey said winds up to 60 mph drove the Mount Lemmon wildfire to sweep through Summerhaven in an hour destroying 250 homes and damaging others. He warned tens of thousands of acres may burn with no strong containment option amid dry fuels and ongoing hot winds. The fire grew from 465 to about 3200 acres as crews fought to protect remaining structures while cause remained under investigation.
