Iowa May non-farm jobs rise 8100 from April but fall 3800 from 1985
Des Moines AP figures show Iowa added 8100 non-farm positions in May due to summer hiring. Construction and local government gains offset weakness in wholesale trade and farm machinery. May total 1,088,100, with 3000 construction, 2000 local government, 700 retail gains. 3800 fewer than May 1985 chiefly from farm and construction machinery layoffs.
