Whisky Making During August Is Authorized
The War Production Board authorized a temporary resumption of domestic whisky production for August. Between 20 and 25 million gallons of 190 proof alcohol will be released, enabling distillers to make 40 to 50 million gallons of 86 to 90 proof whisky during the August holiday. The move follows Rubber Director Dewey’s note that industrial alcohol needs would be about 20 million gallons less than forecast for 1944 and about 30 million less than 1945.
