Free speech urged by Jersey auxiliary leader
Mrs. Winifred Toussaint of Jersey City told the state convention of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary that free speech should be allowed for every citizen and that objections to remarks should prompt action, while noting gaps in federal law to curb subversive groups. The session included greetings from allied groups, reports on funds for the National Home for Widows and Orphans, and awards for large donations. More than 200 women from 55 auxiliaries attended the Iowa event with a program of meetings, entertainments, and memorial services.
