District narrows to two Hoover plans for future schools
The facilities steering committee and BLDD Architects narrowed four final scenarios to two. Plan 1D would keep Hoover Elementary closed during construction while expanding City High, restore Mann and Longfellow, add three new elementaries, rebuild Hills, and build a new 1,400–1,600 student high school. The alternate would also close Hills and Lincoln elementary schools. Plan 1D has cost estimates of 250.1 million for construction and 96.6 million annually, with some public resistance noted at Hoover and Hills Lincoln communities.

Braley Vote Delay Sparks Debate Over Farm Bill
Discussion focuses on a possible Boehner delay to the farm bill vote amid about 200 amendments. Obama may veto if the proposed $200 billion food stamp cut stands, Grassley notes 50 Democratic votes are needed, with a smaller cut risking Republican defections. Braley plans to start signatures June 28 after a slow start last year.
