Road access for Hillcrest Heights in peril as sale looms

Nine Hillcrest Heights homeowners near Lisbon face losing the 400 foot access road after Linn County seeks delinquent taxes outstanding for six years. The road connects to County Club Drive and is owned inside the subdivision by homeowners, while the access strip sits under county title. Bids from William Lyman of Cedar Rapids are anticipated, with the plan to plant trees and return the land to nature, while maintaining possible access rights. The homeowners association bid $200 but was rebuffed. A legal mechanism exists to condemn land-locked access after ten years, potentially via court, though the owner may avoid cutoff by negotiating with the new buyer.
