Porcelain doll artisan keeps 14th century craft alive
Independence's Myrtle Hind, a psychiatric aide by night, creates high fashion porcelain dolls from clay and kilns. She has built a 75-piece family of named dolls, sells some for 75 to 125 dollars, and credits fellow Independence maker Maxine Cappell for guidance. The piece notes a growing doll artisan movement and the historical arc from 14th century fashion dolls to modern collectors.
