Man gives meters time to help new Americans at citizenship ceremony
Houshang Bozorgzadeh of Independence used five dollars to load coins on meters around the Cedar Rapids court house to keep spaces clear for 79 new citizens and their guests. Dr. Fausto Devecchi, an Italian cardiologist now in Iowa City, joined the act by plugging a meter. Both men said the gesture was a gift to new Americans.
