Des Moines Area Track Faces Delay Amid Lease Dispute
Polk County supervisors await a lease agreement with CMI Corp of Bloomfield Hills Michigan to supply seven million dollars in equipment for a proposed central Iowa horse racing track. The deal hinges on a cancelation clause, which CMI has refused to sign, threatening bond sales and risking 8.5 percent interest. If not signed by today, bond financing of forty million dollars may be jeopardized and the Racing Association of Central Iowa is examining other equipment bidders.
