Regents approve 4.7 percent budget hike for five state schools

Cedar Falls reports Regent John Greig of Estherville distributed Iowa lottery tickets at the State Board of Regents meeting on the University of Northern Iowa campus. Regents to approve ISU extension cuts to seven offices
Regents are set to authorize Iowa State University to shrink the extension system from 12 to seven offices. The downsizing, tied to cuts in state and federal funding under Gramm Rudman, will eliminate about 60 extension jobs. Closures include Council Bluffs, Creston, Davenport, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Sioux City and Spencer. Storm Lake and Atlantic will gain new offices.
